Announcement:

Dear Parents, Colleagues and Speakers

PAVIC wish to inform everyone that the 6th National Parent Congress on Visual Impairment slated on May 15-17, 2020 at Luxent Hotel will be postponed in lieu of the present worldwide crisis on CoVid 19. The WHO has announced that CoVid 19 is now pandemic. Philippines' cases of CoVid 19 is rising, thus, "community quarantine" is now implemented in Metro Manila. The organizers have decided to reschedule the event to a later date in October 2020, still depending on the assessment of the situation on CoVid 19 in the country.

Rest assured the 6th Parents Congress will push through, and we will keep you posted.

Thank you for your understanding. Keep safe everyone. Stay at home if you don't have any business to be out. Prevention is better that cure.

God Bless!

Parent Advocates for Visually Impaired Children, Inc. (PAVIC) is a parent support group that advocates for a better future for their children with visual impairment. Our Vision is that every visually impaired child will enjoy equal opportunities and access in all activities in life according to choice and ability. And this vision will only hold true with the support of the parents. We continuously equip and empower them with knowledge and skills for them to help their children reach their full potentials.

Every three (3) years, PAVIC holds a National Parents Congress on Children with Visual Impairment. Gathering of the parents from across the country in a 3-day seminar and workshop is a great avenue to discuss different issues and concerns, especially in the fields of service availability, accessibility and sustainability. This year’s congress which is set on May 15-17, 2020 aims to impart knowledge on the quality educational services available for children with special need as well as health care, employment and maximizing modern technology to their advantage. We are expecting about 150 parents from different parts of the country to join our 6th National Parents Congress on Visual Impairment. We’ll be inviting resource speakers from concerned government agencies, and students to share their experiences with our educational system.

The Perkins School for the Blind and the International Council for the Education of Persons with Disability (ICEVI) has pledged their support. We also seek the partnership of the National Council on Disability Affairs, Department of Education, Resources for the Blind, Christoffel Blinden Mission and local government units in ensuring the success of this event. May we also seek your support and partnership in this very important event by sponsoring parents of children with visual impairment from your area? Registration fee is P8,000.00 that includes food and accommodation from May 15-17, 2020. Attached herewith is the different ways in which you can help us in making this event a success.

Thank you and we look forward to our partnership in the service of PWDs!
